Both The Arts Society Samlesbury and the The Arts Society North West Area host occasional days where members can enjoy presentations on topics of interest.



DAY OF SPECIAL INTEREST – 17th OCTOBER, 2019 – with our own Chairman ROGER MITCHELL AT LYTHAM HALL, BALLAM ROAD, LYTHAM, FY8 4JX

‘Perfectly Palladian, Coolly Classical, Gloomily Gothic – The Georgian Country House in North West England and Beyond’

This day of special interest is hosted by The Arts Society North West Area and will commence at 10.30 a.m. with registration and coffee/tea in the Hall.  The first lecture will start at 11.00 a.m. introducing the Georgian Country House via houses in the North West.  Lunch will be at 1.00 p.m. (buffet with glass of wine and tea/coffee).

At 2.00 p.m. there will be a further lecture on Georgian Country Houses around the World, followed at 3.00 p.m. with a guided tour of the house (shorter version available for anyone who needs to get away).  The cost is £42.00 per person.  Please contact Mrs. Sue O’Brian on suegreenfoot@outlook.com or telephone 015242 21573 or 07768955072 for a booking form.

FROM DOWNTON TO GATSBY – JEWELLERY AND FASHION 1890 – 1929.  ANDREW PRINCE

This day of special interest at Brindle Community Hall was very much enjoyed by 35 members.  Andrew gave us two fascinating talks and also brought a selection of his jewellery for all to admire – and try on – if the mood took as you see from the photos below.
